Orlando will be host to some of Florida’s finest financial minds when InCharge® Debt Solutions (“InCharge”) welcomes the “Fall Summit” of the Florida Jump$tart Coalition to its offices on August 23, 2012. InCharge, a national nonprofit credit counseling organization based in Orlando, holds a seat on Jump$tart’s Board of Directors and is very active in the coalition’s Florida branch.
The Florida Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy, Inc. seeks to improve the personal financial literacy of Floridians by focusing on the state’s youth by promoting and teaching personal finance skills so that individuals can make informed, responsible financial decisions. Expected to attend the August 23rd Fall Summit will be high school teachers, school administrators, government officials, nonprofits, financial institutions, and members of financial literacy and education advocacy organizations.
“We are thrilled to host Jump$tart’s annual Florida summit,” said Shawn Walsh, InCharge’s Director of Outreach. “This group has done a lot towards helping prepare youth for life-long successful financial decision-making, and having these leaders come to InCharge for the day will be great for Orlando.”
The summit will include exhibits from vendors with personal finance products, and educational workshops on these topics:
· Teaching youth about money
· FDIC Money Smart for small businesses
· National Institute for Financial and Economic Literacy goes online
· The new normal and how it is affecting families
The day will feature a presentation from Rob Duckworth, Chancellor of Career and Adult Education with the Florida Department of Education.
