ICON Park Received ‘Innovator Award’ for Creating Exceptional Experiences

ICON Park received the “Innovator Award” at the I-Drive Chamber of Commerce’s July monthly meeting, which took place at ICON Park. More than 100 tourism industry leaders, and a special message from Mayor Jerry Demings, recognized ICON Park’s work “creating exceptional experiences that enhance our destination and local community.”

ICON Park Innovator AwardKeeping with the theme of innovation and community involvement, the award presentation itself became an “exceptional experience” when Chris Jaskiewicz, CEO of ICON Park, announced he was sharing the spotlight by honoring 10-year-old Greshaun Daberezil, who was doing great work in his community and needed a helping hand to keep up the good work.

Daberezil, an Orange County resident, started a good deed project this summer by setting up a display to give free, ice-cold waters to anyone in need of relief from Central Florida’s summer heat — until his cooler was recently stolen.

To lift his spirits and encourage him to continue to better his community, ICON Park surprised the young boy with new supplies. The gift included a replacement cooler and several cases of water — plus annual passes to The Wheel for him and his family, for a bird’s eye view of Orlando.

Inspired by the act of kindness and Daberezil’s commitment to community service, other members of the I-Drive Chamber spontaneously joined in with more encouragement for his efforts, offering free tickets for even more of Orlando’s popular theme parks and attractions.

“At ICON Park, our goal is to always be innovating and doing things differently to provide unique and memorable experiences for our guests,” Jaskiewicz said. “Greshaun showed great initiative to help his neighbors and it was our pleasure to replace his cooler so he can continue to better his community. When Chamber members from other I-Drive attractions followed our lead and stepped up to recognize Greshaun and his family, it was a testament to the amazing things that can happen when our community comes together.”

ICON Park has transformed over the last few years as a Central Florida entertainment destination with numerous new additions including, famous restaurants, new attractions for kids and adults alike, nighttime entertainment, live music nightly, an outdoor lawn for gatherings, and food event series.
