Howard who?

The Lakers are (0-3) and the Orlando Magic are (1-0), and all is right for Magic fans. Well at least for now anyway.

Glen Davis led the Magic with 29 points and 10 rebounds beating the Denver Nuggets 102-89 in its first game post Dwight Howard.

Reserve guard JJ Redick scored 21 points followed by E’twuan Moore’s 13.

Orlando out scored Denver 58-37 in the first half.

Not all was good news for the Magic Friday night. Hedu Turkuglu left the game with a broken left hand, no time table yet for his return.

The Nuggets cut a 21-point first-half deficit to eight points late in the third quarter, but it wasn’t enough to take down the new look Magic.

Afterward, the team presented first-year coach Jacque Vaughn with the game ball.

“It was a good feeling,” Vaughn said afterward. “That’s the progressive process that we’re talking about.”

Denver dropped to (0-2) on the season shooting 38% from the field and 26% from beyond the arc against the Magic.

“The first half we weren’t very good at either end of the court,” Denver coach George Karl said. “In Philly, we didn’t make shots, but we played great defense and stayed in the game because of that.”

Orlando will host the Phoenix Suns Sunday, tip off is set for 6pm.
