At the School Board of Orange County meeting on October 27th, it was announced that Howard Middle School was selected by the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) Center as an AVID National Demonstration Site.
AVID is a program that stresses honors and Advanced Placement classes.
Howard Middle will now serve as the second model school for AVID in Orange County. They join Stonewall Jackson Middle School as two of only four in Florida and 119 worldwide as Demonstration sites.
Howard Middle will now be visited by school leaders from around the country to see how and why the program works so well.
