A man who was shot in the head last Friday at an Orlando gas station and remains brain dead, has been identified by Orlando police.
23-year-old Curtis L. Walden remains on life support at the Orlando Regional Medical Center, after investigators found him unresponsive in the parking lot of the Mobile gas station at 3000 West Colonial Drive, near north John Young Parkway. Walden had been shot, just before 1:00 p.m., following a confrontation.
Police have not released details of the shooting incident in order to protect the integrity of the investigation. But, witnesses to the shooting, who might have left the Mobile gas station before police arrived, are being urged to come forward.
Walden remains on life support at the family’s request for the purpose of harvesting his organs, according to a police statement. Because of Walden’s impending death, the case has been treated as a homicide from its inception, the statement added.
