The Holocaust Memorial Resource & Education Center of Florida is remembering the millions of people who died in the Holocaust on January 27, 2020 at the Holocaust Center located at 851 N. Maitland Avenue, Maitland, Florida 32751.
This date was chosen by the United Nations in recognition of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi death camp, and, this year, marks the 75th anniversary of its liberation.
This evening’s program will begin with a conversation between 98-year-old concentration camp Liberator, Gilbert Waganheim and his daughter-in-law Marlene Waganheim. Mr. Waganheim will recount his experience and tell the moving story of how he helped the Survivors. The conversation will be followed by a candle lighting ceremony conducted by a variety of Orlando area nonprofit organizations and will conclude with inspiring words from Jim Coffin, Executive Director of the Interfaith Council of Central Florida.
