Hit-and-Run Suspect Captured after Swamp Manhunt in Florida

A hit-and-run suspect was captured after an exhaustive swamp manhunt in Florida.

The manhunt went through miles of swamp, but the suspect wanted in connection with a hit-and-run crash in Palm City was captured. According to law enforcement, he was identified as 39-year-old Likenson Daceus, of Ft. Pierce.

At the time, Daceus fled the scene and attempted to evade law enforcement by hiding in a large swamp along the Martin County and St. Lucie County line.

Martin County Sheriff’s Office deputies and detectives, along with officers from FWC and the Port St. Lucie Police Department, worked together for more than two hours to locate and apprehend him.

The search included Road Patrol Units, K9s, Aviation and Drone Units. Officers set perimeters in the water and on the land around residential communities to locate him.

In the end, the coordinated multi-agency effort paid off, according to local law enforcement, as the suspect ended up in custody.
