Historic Weather in Florida, Flurries, Sleet Widespread

Floridians woke up this morning to some very unusual weather in that there are reports of snow flurries and sleet in several counties.

While there has been a history of snow and sleet in the Sunshine State which dates back to 1774, according to cfnews 13, it is historic in that, this occurrence is so widespread.

The last time snow flurries were seen was January 3rd, 2008 in Flagler Beach, Daytona Beach, Malabar and other coastal communities.

Meteorologists have said that the snow flurries and sleet would likely last for several hours. Flurries have been seen in Ocklawaha, Orlando, Rockledge, Ocala and certain sections of Volusia, reports cfnews 13.

Temperatures are in the low 30s and Orlando could record its coldest day ever in daytime temperatures at 36 degrees. The Villages could see 25 degrees.

There is a wintry mix everywhere and overnight temperatures are expected to be in the 20s.

Everyone should take precautions if venturing outdoors and dress appropriately.
