CareerSource Central Florida, in an effort to honor America’s veterans and to coincide with Veterans Day, is participating in the “Hiring Our Heroes” Veterans event tomorrow at the University of Phoenix-Orlando campus from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Workshops for resume writing, interviewing and military skill transitioning will be offered, as well as opportunities for Veterans to meet and talk with Central Florida companies looking to hire. The campus address is 8325 South Park Circle Suite 100, Orlando, FL 32819.
“Veterans tend to have certain qualities, characteristics and mindsets that lend themselves to being very productive employees that are easy to work with and who have the business or company’s greater good in mind,” said Joseph Patton, Veterans’ Program Manager for CareerSource Central Florida. “And their skills, training and abilities transfer very well from military to private sector, making them a great asset to any company.”
There are currently about 1.5 million Veterans in Florida, and nearly 170,000 Veterans living in Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Sumter Counties.
