The Florida Lottery recently announced that Angel Colon, of Plant City, claimed a $1 million prize from the $1,000,000 A Year For Life Spectacular scratch-off game.
The Hillsborough County winner chose to receive her winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $640,000.00.
The Central Florida woman purchased her winning ticket from Publix, located at 775 Highway 559 in Auburndale. The retailer received a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning scratch-off ticket.
She claimed her winning prize at the Lottery’s Headquarters in Tallahassee.
The $50 scratch-off game, $1,000,000 A YEAR FOR LIFE SPECTACULAR, features two top prizes of $1 million a year for life and 234 prizes of $1 million. Additionally, this ticket is filled with more than $1.6 billion in cash prizes.
The game’s overall odds of winning are 1-in-4.50.
Scratch-off games are an important part of the Lottery’s portfolio of games, comprising approximately 74 percent of ticket sales in fiscal year 2023-2024. Additionally, since inception, scratch-off games have awarded more than $63.1 billion in prizes, created 2,175 millionaires, and generated more than $19.24 billion for the state’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF).
