The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office opened a new state-of-the-art canine training complex.
This new Canine Training Complex is a major investment in public safety, training, and the continued excellence of the local K-9 Section. The more than 11,000 square-foot space is designed to support the training and care required for HCSO’s highly skilled K-9 teams.
According to local law enforcement, the Central Florida complex will serve as a hub for both local and national training opportunities and includes classrooms, secure training aid rooms, scent rooms, and office space.
The kennel is equipped with 24 climate-controlled indoor and outdoor runs, which can be configured to house up to 48 canines during emergency situations. The kennel also features advanced drainage, ventilation, and sanitation systems specifically designed for canine care.
“Preparing our deputies and K9 teams for real-world challenges starts with how we train, and that means providing the best possible training environment,” said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Our K9s play a critical role in protecting our community, and this investment ensures they and their handlers have the resources they need to train, perform, and stay ready to serve.”
