Hillsborough County Sheriff Announces Money Raised for Injured Deputies

Sheriff Chad Chronister and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office were overwhelmed with gratitude and honored to announce that $40,000 was raised by the local community to support the deputies who sustained severe injuries while responding to a call on earlier this month.

This outstanding display of support and generosity in Central Florida allowed Sheriff Chronister to present Corporal Carlos Britto and Deputy Manny Santos each with a $20,000 check, in recognition of their dedication and sacrifice.

While the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is covering the medical expenses for Corporal Brito and Deputy Santos, their path to recovery is long and challenging.

“The outpouring of support from our community leaves me humbled and grateful,” Sheriff Chad Chronister shared. “At this time, the focus for Corporal Brito and Deputy Santos should be solely on their recovery. This contribution significantly alleviates the financial burden that accompanies their injuries, providing a much-needed respite to their families during the holiday season. It serves as a powerful reminder that in times of need, our community comes together with unity and compassion, lightening the load our brave deputies carry as they strive towards complete healing.”

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office extended its deepest appreciation to every individual, business, and organization that contributed. They said the generosity and support demonstrates the incredible strength of the greater Tampa and Hillsborough community and the profound impact people can make together.
