Hillsborough County Assistant State Attorney Arrested

Detectives assigned to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Crimes Against Children Unit arrested a Hillsborough County Assistant State Attorney for Transmission and Possession of Child Pornography.




According to law enforcement, detectives began their investigation after receiving information that files involving child pornography were being accessed and shared via the internet on July 30, 2024. Through various investigative techniques, detectives identified the suspect as 32-year-old William Andrew Jones.

According to detectives, the files were of juvenile females between the ages of 6 and 10 years old engaging in sexual acts.

On May 28, 2025, detectives interviewed Jones, who admitted to viewing and transmitting the files. He was arrested on a warrant and charged with three counts of Possession of Child Pornography, three counts of Transmission of Child Pornography, and two counts of Transmission of Material Harmful to a Minor.

Jones was booked into the Orient Road Jail.

Jones had been employed by the Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office since 2021 as an Assistant State Attorney within the Felony Bureau, Trial Division E.

The investigation continues, according to local law enforcement.
