Seniors First kicked off its annual fundraising effort with “High Tea & Hats,” held at The Peabody Orlando. The event raised more than $40,000, which will benefit  seniors living in Seminole and Orange counties with programs such as Meals On Wheels – a food delivery program, which provides more than 252,097 nutritious meals annually.

“As a nonprofit serving our community’s elderly, we always have a need for donations,” said Marsha Lorenz, president of Seniors First, Inc. “The funds raised during ‘High Tea & Hats’ will help ensure that more senior citizens remain independent for a longer period of time.”

The event was attended by 360 people and included a “stylish hat” contest, silent and chance auctions, and traditional teatime fare, including fresh fruits, sandwiches, decadent desserts and exotic teas.
