An Evans High School student was arrested Monday, accused of assaulting a school employee with a hammer.
The 16-year-old female student got into an altercation with another student on October 17, and “swung” the hammer at a school administrator when he tried to intervene, according to her Arrest Affidavit report.
Investigators said, other items were found in the student’s backpack including, a 8.5″ steak knife, 6″ box cutter and a 8.5″ homemade stabbing device, known as a shank.
The student was charged with two counts: (i) aggravated assault with a deadly weapon – a 10″ hammer – on a school administrator and (ii) possession of weapons on school property.
She was booked into the Orange County Jail just after 11:00 a.m. on Monday, on a $3,650 bond. The student is being charged as an adult.
