Orange County Sheriff’s deputies are still trying to apprehend a man wanted for the October 25 attempted murder of another man at a Hess Station at Forsythe and East Colonial Drive.
The suspect has been identified as Demarcus Reddick, 20 years, and there is an active warrant his arrest for conspiracy to commit murder. He was wearing all dark clothing when he bailed out of his vehicle, Wednesday evening.
Late yesterday afternoon, the suspect was being kept under active surveillance by an Orange County Sheriff’s Office helicopter as members of the agency’s Gang Unit were setting up to do a tactical park on the wanted man when his vehicle, reported to be a late model, silver Pontiac Grand Am.
The suspect was kept under surveillance until he arrived at a Circle K convenience store at Dean and University where the suspect stopped and a passenger exited the vehicle and went into the store. Deputies were detected by the suspect as they moved in to arrest him. He immediately fled the parking lot at a high rate of speed and driving in a reckless manner leaving his passenger inside the store. They did not pursue the fleeing felon because of heavy traffic and reports from the helicopter crew that he was driving recklessly and endangering the public.
The suspect drove into Seminole County northbound on Alafaya until he reached a point approximately a quarter of a mile north of Mitchell Hammock Road. He bailed out of the car, leaving it in drive and allowing it to crash into a fence. The suspect continued to flee on foot and has been the subject of search involving units from the Orange County and Seminole County Sheriff’s Offices and units from the Oviedo Police Department. Despite an aggressive search, the suspect remains at large.
Anyone with information on Demarcus Reddick’s whereabouts is asked to call the Orange County Sheriff’s Office immediately.
