Hearing Set for Police Association Lawsuit

A Tallahassee circuit judge is scheduled to hear a motion next month for summary judgment in the Florida Police Benevolent Association’s (PBA) lawsuit challenging a plan to privatize several state prisons.

Circuit Judge Jackie Fulford set a hearing Sept. 29 to hear the motion for summary judgment, which if rejected would set the stage for a trial on the issue later in the fall.

The PBA is suing over the Legislature’s order to the Department of Corrections to privatize most of the prisons in South Florida.
