Grayson Trouncing All GOP Incumbents in Cash Race

Alan Grayson

Former Congressman and current congressional candidate Alan Grayson (D-Orlando) accomplished an amazing feat during the 3rd quarter fundraising cycle. The Committee to Elect Alan Grayson raised more than double any House Member in Central Florida. In fact, Grayson’s total of $416,267 is more than Daniel Webster (R-Winter Garden), Sandy Adams (R-Oviedo), Cliff Stearns (R-Ocala) and Rich Nugent (R-Brooksville) combined.

“This is what People Power looks like,” said Grayson.

In addition, the Republican incumbents demonstrated their continued reliance on special interest money. Political action committee (PAC) contributions made up more than half of the weak quarterly fundraising efforts of the Central Florida Republican delegation.

“If the Republicans are going to sell out to the special interests, they should demand a higher price,” added Grayson.

Conversely, 99% of Grayson’s 3rd quarter contributions came from individuals, not PACs. The Committee to Elect Alan Grayson received contributions from 11,031 individuals in the 3rd quarter. The average contribution was less than $38.

“Unlike the lobbyists who are funneling their sewer money to the Republicans in Central Florida, my supporters want nothing in exchange for their money but good government,” Grayson declared.

Here is a list of the fundraising numbers (and percentage of PAC money):

  • Alan Grayson $416,277 (1%)
  • John Mica $185,205 (61%)
  • Bill Posey $163,978 (17%)
  • Daniel Webster $141,667 (43%)
  • Dennis Ross $132,041 (65%)
  • Sandy Adams $113,733 (61%)
  • Cliff Stearns $90,659 (58%)
  • Rich Nugent $42,530 (77%)

Grayson is running for a new U.S. House of Representatives district that is expected to be created in Orlando.
