Grayson Swimming in Cash

According to “pre-primary” reports filed on Thursday with the Federal Election Commission (FEC), Representative Alan Grayson (D-Orlando) raised $210,000 for his re-election between July 1 and August 4, or $6,000 per day, a statement released from the campaign said on Friday.

Congressman Alan Grayson (D-Orlando)

Grayson’s total campaign war-chest is over $1.3 million, 13 times as much cash on hand as his closest competitor.

Campaign spokesman Sam Drzymala attributes this unprecedented support, where Central Floridians are taking out their checkbooks and credit cards, to the fact that Grayson delivers.

Drzymala points to Grayson increasing Congressional spending in the district by more than 500 percent to over $12 million in his first year and then $16 million in 2010.  He also said that Grayson doubled competitive grants in his first year which realized an extra $100 million for Central Florida.  The Congressman too, has successfully introduced an innovative mandatory mediation program, saving hundreds of homes in Central Florida and which is now being implemented statewide.

“This is what People Power looks like,” said Drzymala. “The same people who are contributing to the Grayson campaign are also calling neighbors and knocking on doors.  People are excited that finally – finally – someone is fighting for them.”

And what does Drzymala have to say about the far-right nuts who are running against Grayson?

“One thing is clear, none of them has generated any support even remotely resembling the Grayson Phenomenon.  In fact, according to the FEC reports, none of them has more than 500 contributors, much less 50,000,” said Drzymala.
