Grand Jury Indicts Man for Murdering Cousin in Central Florida

A grand jury indicted a man for murdering his cousin in Central Florida.

The Orange County grand jury formally indicted 25-year-old Jamal Johnson for First Degree Felony Murder and Accessory to First Degree Murder.

On February 17, 2023, 21-year-old Redd Nelson was walking in the 1300 block of South Highland Avenue in Apopka when a vehicle approached him.

The victim walked up to the passenger’s side of the vehicle and was shot multiple times before the driver sped off.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office obtained surveillance video near the scene, identified the victim’s cousin, Johnson, as the suspect, and arrested him.

State Attorney Andrew Bain’s office presented sufficient evidence to a grand jury to secure an indictment against Johnson for First Degree Felony Murder and Accessory to First Degree Murder.
