Governor DeSantis Appoints Two to Greater Orlando Aviation Authority

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has appointed two new members to the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) Board.

The Republican Florida Governor named Stephanie Kopelousos and Joe Nunziata to serve on the seven-member board that oversees policies at Orlando International and Orlando Executive Airports.

Both appointees will serve four-year terms and are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate. The rest of the GOAA Board remains intact with Tim Weisheyer serving as Chairman; Dr. John L. Evans, Jr., Vice Chairman; Carson Good, Immediate Past Chairman; Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer; and Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings.

Kopelousos is currently the District Administrator of the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District. Previously, she served as the Director of Legislative & Intergovernment Affairs for Gov. DeSantis; the County Manager for Clay County Board of County Commissioners for eight years; and was the first woman to serve as Secretary of the Florida Department of Transportation when she was appointed by Gov. Charlie Crist in 2007.

Nunziata is the Co-Chief Executive Officer of FBC Mortgage, LLC. Active in his community, he serves on the boards of the Seminole and Orange County Sheriff Foundations and the Advent Hospital Foundation. Nunziata was named the 2015 “Executive of the Year” by the Orlando Business Journal and received the Ernst & Young “Entrepreneur of the Year” Award in 2017.

Kopelousos and Nunziata will fill the seats formerly held by Belinda Kirkegard and Craig Mateer. Both Mateer and Kirkegard’s terms had expired. These appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.

The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority operates Orlando International Airport (MCO) and Orlando Executive Airport (ORL), two of Central Florida’s premier air travel gateways. MCO is a world-class global connector, serving more than 58 million annual passengers in its Main Terminal and Terminal C. ORL is located just miles from downtown Orlando and provides vital general aviation access to the heart of the region.
