Gov. Crist Opposed to One Cent Sales Tax Increase

Gov. Charlie Crist told Navy sailors and northeast Florida citizens Wednesday that he remains optimistic about the economy and believes the state can fund education and infrastructure improvements without raising taxes.

Crist, speaking at a town hall meeting at Mayport Naval Station near Jacksonville, said he expects Florida to receive about $13.4 billion from the federal stimulus program.

“I believe the best days of Florida and America are ahead of them,” Crist said.
