With a mere 12 days left in the legislative session, the GOP-controlled Florida House and Senate have not yet agreed on how much to allocate to various parts of the budget spending plan.
Senate Budget Chairman JD Alexander, R-Lake Wales said Monday that he has made an offer on allocations to the House, which he briefly outlined to the Budget Committee, a necessary beginning to getting a budget into conference.
“It’s a shame we’ve not resolved these issues, I think they’re eminently resolvable,” Alexander said. “But we are not going to be unilaterally dictated to by the House, we’re going to try to find a fair and balanced budget.”
There are 9 days remaining from when the budget would need to be on the desks of lawmakers, and thinks do look a little bleak, but not insurmountable, Alexander noted.
“We still have the possibility of getting there, but it’s getting more challenging,” he said.
