Goodwill Industries of Central Florida recently announced it will begin renovating its flagship retail store and administrative building, located at 7531 S. Orange Blossom Trail, in Orlando.
Work is scheduled to begin mid-February 2024 in Orange County. To limit operational disruptions for shoppers, donors and employees, Goodwill will remain open while crews complete the renovation in phases over the next 24 months. So while the South Orange Blossom Trail location may look a bit “under construction,” it will be open for business as usual.
When completed, the makeover will enhance employee workspace and the customer experience.
Other new features will include:
- Redesigned, covered donation drive-through lanes to protect donors and employees from the weather
- Expanded sales floor that spans 19,000-sq. ft.
- Restructured processing area designed to streamline workflow
- New exterior façade
- Dedicated classroom space that will be used to teach at-risk teens through Goodwill’s Project Compass program, an alternative high school in collaboration with OCPS
“It’s an exciting time for Goodwill,” said Ed Durkee, president and CEO at GICF. “This renovation is much more than a fresh coat of paint. It is an investment in the quality of the environments we provide for our employees. It is also an enduring commitment to the Skyview and South OBT community we’ve called home for 25 years. We’re incredibly proud of being of the area’s largest and best employers. And we’re grateful for the community support that allows us to be even better.”
