Goodwill, Second Harvest Urge Residents to Help Feed Kids During Summer

During the month of June, all Goodwill retail stores and attended donation centers in Central Florida will participate in the “Fill the Need” food drive with Second Harvest Food Bank. Donations will support Second Harvest’s “Fighting Hunger, Feeding Hope” campaign, which helps feed children while school is out during the summer months. Residents are encouraged to drop off non-perishable food items, along with their Goodwill donations.

“Many children who depend on their school’s free or reduced lunches often go hungry during the summer months,” said Dave Krepcho, president and CEO of Second Harvest Food Bank. “And as the need for food increases, so does the need for donations.”

“Partnering with Second Harvest is a natural fit for Goodwill – especially for such an important cause,” said Bill Oakley, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Central Florida. “We encourage residents to drop off non-perishable food items, along with their Goodwill donations.”

Goodwill stores and attended donation centers in Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Brevard and Volusia counties are participating in the drive, which runs from June 1 to 30.
