Goodwill Invites Central Florida to ‘Round Up’ for United Against Poverty Orlando

Goodwill Industries of Central Florida launched a special ‘round up’ initiative to help United Against Poverty Orlando (UP) meet its fundraising goal of $150,000 to repair storm damage at its crisis center.

In June, UP suffered a catastrophic loss when part of its roof collapsed, forcing the nonprofit to shut down some vital services. The organization began fundraising to help cover the costs, and now Goodwill is inviting shoppers in Orange County to help UP by rounding up their purchases to the nearest dollar until September 29th.

Goodwill United Against Poverty“We believe in the power of collaboration, especially during times of crisis,” said Ed Durkee, President and CEO at Goodwill Industries of Central Florida. “With the help of shoppers, we’ll spread goodwill even further, strengthening our collective impact for United Against Poverty.”

Goodwill Industries of Central Florida will match the funds up to $5,000.

“The community’s generosity to help us rebuild has been overwhelming,” said Anjali Vaya, Executive Director at United Against Poverty Orlando. “Central Florida never backs down from a call to act, and we’re grateful to be lifted up in our time of need, especially by Goodwill and its supporters.”
