Glenridge Middle School, located at 2900 Upper Park Rd, is no longer on lock down, after thirty Orlando police officers concluded a search of its premises.
Police officers were investigating a tip that the School Resource Officer received from a woman who stated she was receiving text messages from her daughter who attends Glenridge Middle School. The texts alleged that an unknown student was going to shoot students during lunch time. It was also alleged that an unknown student had placed something in a trash can on campus.
The parent who spoke to the SRO did not want to be identified out of fear. Police said, the call came from an untraceable third-party number.
Police also said, the SRO searched trash cans and located a fully loaded magazine from a gun. The magazine is from a .22 caliber gun; no gun was located.
Thirty officers responded to the School and it was placed on lock down. A search of the premises, each classroom, lockers and each student was conducted. Nothing else was found.
Police said the search ended at 2:00 p.m. and the school is no longer on lock down.
Security at the School will be beefed up in the upcoming period, as the investigation into the phone call, threats and loaded magazine continues.
