President Barack Obama joined all the living former Presidents – Jimmy Carter, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush – for an historic occasion Thursday, the dedication of the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum in Dallas, Texas.
Former President George W. Bush, whose popularity has been rising among Americans, choked back tears during the dedication ceremony.
In his remarks, President Obama talked about the special bond that connects all presidents, describing the role of president as “a humbling job.”
Mr. Obama also made a plug for comprehensive immigration reform, reminding that America is a “nation of immigrants.” The president said too that, even though there may be disagreements on matters of foreign policy, all the men on the stage shared “a profound respect and reverence for the men and women of our military and their families. And we are united in our determination to comfort the families of the fallen and to care for those who wear the uniform of the United States.”
