Dan Gelber, Democrat in the race for Florida Attorney General, says the number one job of that Office should be protecting the consumers of the state. He believes it is the number one job for any Attorney General, and should he be elected, that’s exactly what he intends to do.
“The Attorney General is your lawyer and he is the one making sure you are not being charged for something you shouldn’t be”, Gelber said in an interview with West Orlando News. “He (the Attorney General) is the one making sure that police are organized in efforts to secure our neighborhoods. That is what an Attorney General does. So, the first thing I would do is re-establish that position, as the consumers’ lawyer….I’d want to be the fiercest consumer advocate you can have.”
Gelber also wants to weigh in on some other very specific areas that the Attorney General’s office has neglected such as, public education and health care issues. He believes that the Florida Legislature is violating the constitution which demands a high quality system of public education, which is not currently the case in Florida.
