A small church in Gainesville, Florida is making its own “fires” and is planning to burn Qurans on the ninth anniversary of the September 11th terrorists attacks.
Officials of the Dove World Church, despite being denied a “burn permit” by the city for the event say, they will still burn the Muslim holy book.
The church was planning an “International Burn a Quran Day” on September 11th, before being denied the permit by city officials.
Terry Jones, Dove World Church pastor however, will not be deterred and wrote in an e-mail on Wednesday that, “City of Gainesville denies burn permit – BUT WE WILLÂ STILL BURN KORANS,” reports thinkprogress.com
The Gainesville City Fire Chief, Gene Prince, has said that if the church proceeds with the Quran burning event, it will be fined.
