Fugitive Wanted for Michigan Homicide Arrested in Tampa

A fugitive wanted for a 2023 Michigan homicide was recently arrested in Tampa.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrested 34-year-old Daniel Ray Partee, a fugitive wanted in connection with a 2023 homicide case in Michigan.

The Temple Terrace Police Department contacted HCSO members after a citizen returned Partee’s wallet to their office. Upon retrieving the wallet, investigators discovered Partee’s Florida driver’s license listing an address in Tampa in Central Florida.

Further investigation revealed that Partee had an active fugitive warrant from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety for a 2023 homicide.

Deputies took Partee into custody without incident. During the arrest, a search of Partee revealed a clear plastic bag containing several Xanax bars. As a result, Partee faces an additional local charge of Possession of Controlled Substance.

“No matter how far you run or how well you think you can hide, we will find you,” said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister. “This arrest demonstrates that violent criminals cannot escape justice by crossing state lines. Our deputies worked with our law enforcement partners to ensure this dangerous fugitive was taken off our streets. We will continue to pursue anyone who thinks they can commit heinous crimes elsewhere and find refuge in Hillsborough County. Justice may be delayed, but it will not be denied.”

Partee was being held locally pending extradition proceedings to Michigan to face charges related to the 2023 homicide case.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation, according to local law enforcement.
