Babies don’t come with directions!
So, the Orange County Health Department (OCHD) now has the free training every new dad needs.
The agency’s “Healthy Start” division has created “Boot Camp for New Dads”, an educational program taught by fathers for fathers. The service is provided through the Orange County Health Department with funding from the Orange County Healthy Start Coalition.
The FREE class is a 3 hour workshop covering not only baby care and fatherhood but also the needs of new mothers, and it doesn’t cost a thing!
The first hour’s discussion centers on topics like “Forming a New Family”, “The Changing Role of Fathers”, “Ensuring your Babies Safety” and “Helping Mom with Breast Feeding”.
The second hour is a hands-on opportunity for prospective dads to practice baby care skills under the guidance of veteran dads who bring their new babies to class.
The final hour is an interactive session featuring the best advice veteran dads can offer the rookies.
