Former Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll has joined Global Digital Solutions as a senior advisor, the company announced Wednesday.

Global Digital Solutions is “positioning itself as a leader in providing knowledge-based and culturally attuned social consulting and security-related solutions in unsettled areas,” the company stated in a press release, and Carroll is expected to become President and Chief Operating Officer once the planned merger with Airtronic USA, Inc. has been completed.

Airtronic is an electro-mechanical engineering design and manufacturing company which provides small arms and small arms spare parts to the U.S. Department of Defense, foreign militaries, and the law enforcement market.

“I’m delighted to join Global Digital Solutions as a senior advisor,” stated Carroll. “And I look forward to working closely with the team at GDSI and Airtronic to seize what I believe are truly enormous growth opportunities both in the domestic and global arenas.”

Carroll, who served for two years as Lieutenant Governor, resigned abruptly in March, in the wake of a multi-million dollar illegal gambling scheme at the center of which is Allied Veterans of the World, a company whom she represented through her public relations firm.

So far, 57 people have been arrested in connection with the multi-agency Internet cafe probe and face a multiplicity of charges related to racketeering, conspiracy to engage in racketeering and money laundering, among others.  The investigation also let to a new bill which prohibits the electronic games used by Internet cafes, which was signed into law by Gov. Rick Scott earlier this month.
