Florida Democratic Party Chair Karen Thurman, in commemorating the eight anniversary of September 11, 2001, has asked all Floridians to pause for a moment of silence and remember the thousands of innocent men, women and children who lost their lives in one of the most horrific events in America’s history.
“Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with everyone who lost loved ones on that tragic day”, a statement released by Thurman read.
Thurman also asked that those first responders and law enforcement personnel, many of whom risked their lives as they worked to aid innocent victims, be honored and remembered.
She called on Floridians to pray for the safety of the men and women serving in the nation’s Armed Forces.
“The brave men and women in uniform, who risk their lives in defense of our freedom, are (the) true heroes,” Thurman said.
