Nearly 200 new laws approved by the Legislature and signed by Gov. Rick Scott take effect today, July 1, 2013, along with the states $74.1 billion budget.
These new laws include the following:
- HB 609 – Cracks down on cyber bullying in public schools
- HB 655 – Bars local governments, including Orange County, from requiring employers to offer paid sick time to workers
- SB 92 – Restricts the use of unmanned aerial drones by law enforcement
- SB 342 – Allows someone with a homestead exemption to rent their property out for 30 days without losing their homestead exemption.
