Florida Teamsters Endorsed in Presidential Race

The Florida Teamsters endorsed in the presidential race between Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Kamala Harris.

On the campaign trail, both Trump and Harris have been battling to win over union workers and working class voters. Teamsters Joint Council 75 representing Georgia, Florida, and Alabama endorsed Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris for President.

Nationally, the General Executive Board of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters elected not to endorse any candidate for U.S. President. In independent electronic and phone polling from the national union, a majority of voting members selected Trump for a possible Teamsters endorsement over Harris.

However, with the news of the Florida endorsement, Vice President Harris has now been endorsed by local Teamsters unions representing more than 1.5 million active and retired members, according to the Democrats. This includes more than half a million members across battleground states of Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Nevada.

Former Teamsters President Jim Hoffa also endorsed Vice President Harris, saying that “this election is too important for our union to not do its duty.”

“We must take a stand for working Americans,” Hoffa said. “There is only one candidate in this race that has supported working families and unions throughout their career, and that is Vice President Kamala Harris.”

More than three dozen retired Teamsters also appeared on stage at the Democratic National Convention and endorsed Vice President Harris. These were all members who had their pensions saved by the passage of the Butch Lewis Act, which Harris championed as a Senator and cast the deciding vote for as Vice President.

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters represents 1.3 million hardworking people in the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico.
