Florida Senator Marco Rubio was recently awarded the 2024 Democracy Award for Innovation and Modernization.
Every year, the Congressional Management Foundation (CMF) recognizes Members of Congress for their non-legislative achievements in operations, communications, and constituent services.
“It is an immense honor to receive this award that recognizes my office’s dedication to originality and creativity,” Republican Senator Marco Rubio said in a statement following the announcement of this award. “I am honored that the Congressional Management Foundation has acknowledged my staff’s work on behalf of Floridians.”
The Congressional Management Foundation provided several examples of that work, including how Florida Senator Rubio’s office implemented a constituent survey to get feedback on each case handled by staff members, restructured and revitalized their internship program, and successfully handled several thousand passport-related cases during a State Department backlog.
The award recognizes the office’s originality and creativity in constituent interactions, communication, office operations, as well as international efforts to modernize the functioning of a more than 200-year-old institution.
