Florida Senator Rick Scott was recently named the Chairman of the Special Committee on Aging, in addition to other committee assignments.
Republican Senator Rick Scott announced additional 119th Congress committee assignments, including that he has been named to the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations. In addition to these committee assignments, Senator Scott will continue to serve on the U.S. Senate Committee on Armed Services, the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs and the Committee on the Budget.
“I’m incredibly proud to continue serving the great state of Florida in the 119th Congress and be a member of key committees that will be essential to our fight to Make Washington Work for Florida families,” U.S. Senator Rick Scott said. “As a new member of the Committee on Foreign Relations, Chairman of the Special Committee on Aging, and member of the Armed Services, Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, and Budget committees, I will have the opportunity to fight every day in Washington for the issues most important to Florida families. During my time as Governor of Florida and U.S. Senator, I’ve made it a priority to put Florida families first and stand with our allies around the globe who believe in our way of life and freedoms. As a member of the Foreign Relations Committee, I will play a central role in continuing this work and fighting for America’s interests abroad, especially standing up for Israel as it defends itself against terrorists; holding our adversaries, like Communist China, Russia and Iran fully accountable; and standing for freedom and democracy in Cuba, Venezuela and all of Latin America. This work will be incredibly important in rightfully positioning the United States as a beacon of freedom and hope around the globe.”
Senator Rick Scott was sworn in to his second term serving as United States Senator for Florida. Senator Scott also released a report on his first-term wins for families in Florida and across the nation.
“I’m so proud to have another six years doing the best job in the world – serving the people of Florida as their U.S. Senator and fighting to protect the American dream for all Americans,” U.S. Senator Rick Scott said. “When I became Governor of Florida in 2010, Florida’s economy was in shambles, I was determined to turn the state around and make sure that every family in Florida could get a great job, live in a safe community, and send their kids to a great school. I grew up in a family that struggled to make ends meet and I know firsthand that if you can build safe communities where businesses thrive and create jobs and kids can get a great education, everyone has a shot to live their American Dream. Florida’s turnaround playbook worked. That’s why I’ve spent my time as United States Senator working to bring Florida’s success to the federal government and making Washington Work for families. We’ve had so many great wins for Floridians over these past six years, and I’ll be spending every day of my second term as your U.S. Senator building on those efforts. I’m glad to have President Trump as a partner in the White House, who is committed to making the much-needed changes in Washington to make our communities safe, put Americans first and preserve the American dream. Let’s get to work, Florida!”

“I’d like to thank Leader-elect John Thune and Senator Mike Crapo for their work with myself and my colleagues on committee assignments, ensuring that the many talented members of the Senate Republican Conference are well positioned to advance President Trump’s agenda,” Senator Rick Scott said. “I will serve proudly and faithfully on these committees to protect the best interests of the United States and its allies domestically and abroad, fight for our military and service members, keep Americans healthy and bring fiscal sanity back to our nation.”
