Florida Senator Reprimands Democrats Over Continued DHS Shutdown

Republican Florida Senator Ashley Moody reprimanded Democrats over the DHS government shutdown.

Florida Senator Ashley Moody took to the Senate Floor to demand Democrats stop their partisan antics and end the continued Department of Homeland Security shutdown. In her speech, Senator Moody implored her Democratic colleagues to remember why they are serving in government and to put the people they serve first. She made it clear she knows who she is fighting for: the American people.

“We are now in week six of the ongoing DHS Shutdown because my Democrat colleagues want wide open borders and no deportations of anyone, period,” said Republican Senator Ashley Moody. “They are furious that President Trump has closed the border and is now working to dig our nation out of the dangerous situation that Biden left us in. These Democrats are willing to jeopardize the safety of the American people at a time when we know Biden has released many on the terrorist watch list into our country and we are in a conflict with a regime that has vowed to destroy us.”

Florida’s Senator said that America is safer today than under the previous Democratic administration, Senator Moody said that under President Donald Trump, DHS has provided the most secure border in American history. She said that under President Joe Biden, approximately 85% of illegal immigrants apprehended at the border were released, while under President Trump, the catch-and-release policy ended on Day One.

She also noted the ongoing security threats, adding that one report found that President Biden’s administration allowed 18,000 known or suspected terrorists in the United States through the open border, increasing threats to national security. The Florida Senator noted that under President Trump, DHS is making progress in removing suspecting terrorists and arresting special interest aliens.

The Florida Senator also noted that under President Trump, DHS and the Department of Health and Human Services have located 145,000 unaccompanied children that the Biden administration lost.

“For the security of our country, we have to end the DHS shutdown,” Florida Senator Ashley Moody concluded.
