Florida Senator Moody Led Elimination of Costly Rules of Biden-Era ‘Green New Scam’

Florida Senator Ashley Moody emerged as a champion to eliminate costly rules of what Republicans call the Biden-era “Green New Scam.”

Senator Ashley Moody’s Congressional Review Act to roll back the Biden-Harris administration’s “Green New Scam initiative” applying costly performance standards to commercial freezers and refrigerators passed the U.S. Senate and was signed by President Donald Trump.

The Florida Republican Senator said this “irresponsible and illogical overregulation” was on track to create needless regulations for commercial coolers and freezers, causing high prices, impacting families and burdening businesses across the country.

This marks Senator Moody’s first piece of legislation that passed through Congress and headed to the President’s desk just after her 100th day in the United States Senate.

“The Biden-Harris administration attempted to force costly and burdensome regulations onto the American people and their businesses in an effort to advance their Green New Scam agenda,” Republican Florida Senator Ashley Moody said. “I am proud to take this fight head on to ensure that small businesses and American families are not shouldering the cost of the last administration’s nonsensical regulatory state. Thank you to my colleagues in the House and Senate for their support. I look forward to this legislation heading to the president’s desk to become law.”

This legislation passed through the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. H.J. Res. 75, enacted under the Congressional Review Act, repeals the Biden administration’s energy conservation standards for commercial refrigerators and freezers. The Department of Energy estimated that these regulations would impose an $8 billion burden on manufacturers and small businesses by requiring costly equipment redesigns and manufacturing upgrades. Ultimately, these costs would be passed on to consumers through higher prices, according to Republicans.

“As DOE acknowledges in its own analysis, the increased capital expense costs caused by these standards may take customers more than 10, 75, and up to 93.9 years in many instances to match cost reductions achieved through energy-efficiency gains,” North American Association of Food Equipment Manufacturers (NAFEM) said. “More expensive equipment translates into higher costs for consumers. This is simple economics. As the cost of inputs and doing business increases, a restaurant’s or grocer’s prices also must increase to make enough of a profit to stay in business.”

“I was proud to take this fight head on and I am thankful that President Trump has now signed this legislation into law,” added Florida Senator Ashley Moody. “When I took the oath of office, I promised to work hard on behalf of the people of Florida and undo the damage the Biden administration inflicted on this nation. 100 days in and legislation to do just that was signed into law. We are just getting started.”
