Somer Thompson, a 7-year-old girl from Orange Park, disappeared last October 19th while walking home from school, and yesterday, Clay County Sheriff’s deputies have said that a man has been named a “Person of Interest”.
Jarred Mitchell Harrell, 24 years, was arrested in Meridian, Mississippi on February 11th, and has been charged with 29 counts of child pornography. He is being held on $1 million dollars bond. In addition to the child pornography charges, Mitchell has been named a “Person of Interest” in the horrible abduction and murder of Somer Thompson.
The 7-year-old girl disappeared four months ago while walking home from school with her brothers and sisters. Within days, her body was found in a Georgia land fill.
Acting on a tip, Clay County detectives searched the home where Harrell previously lived. Somer Thompson’s home in Orange Park, Florida, is close to where Harrell formerly lived.
Harrell had left behind a computer where he once lived before re-locating. Detectives found significant child erotica and child pornography on his computer.
The investigation continues into this heinous crime.
