Florida Hispanic, Black Graduation Rates Top National Average

Graduation rates among black and Hispanic students in Florida are higher than the national average for those groups, according to a report in Education Week.

The figures for Florida were 9.6 percentage points higher than the national average for Hispanic students and 3.5 percentage points higher for black students.

Florida’s graduation rate for Hispanic females topped the nation with 77.5 percent.

“Florida is a leader in many areas of education, and I am incredibly proud of our students for this outstanding achievement. When we truly embrace diversity, it contributes to the great progress of our children,” said Education Commissioner Gerard Robinson said in a news release touting the report, based on the class of 2009.
