A Florida high school basketball coach was arrested for online solicitation of a minor.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) arrested 56-year-old Troy Hartmann, of Tallahassee, on one count each: online solicitation of a minor, harmful communication with a minor, transmitting harmful material to a minor, and unlawful use of a two-way communication device. At the time of his arrest, Hartmann worked as a high school basketball coach in Leon County. None of Hartmann’s charges relate to a current or former student, according to FDLE.
The investigation began in November 2025 when agents with FDLE’s Tallahassee Regional Operations Center conducted an undercover operation aimed at targeting online predators. During the operation, Hartmann contacted an undercover FDLE agent who Hartmann believed to be a 15-year-old female. Hartmann’s charges are based on his communications with the agent acting in an undercover capacity.
FDLE coordinated the arrest in partnership with the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, Tallahassee Police Department, and Leon County Schools’ Department of Safety and Security.
Hartmann was taken into custody this month and booked at the Leon County Jail.
This case will be prosecuted by the 2nd Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office. This investigation remains active.
If you have any information concerning Hartmann, please contact FDLE at (850) 410-7640.
