The Florida Highway Patrol announced today that, during a 29-day period 1,266 citations were issued for Move Over violations.
In announcing the preliminary enforcement results from the Patrol’s Move Over campaign, FHP also said emphasis was placed on getting drivers to Move Over for stopped emergency vehicles on Florida’s roadways.
The law now requires drivers to move over one lane or slow down to 20 miles per hour below the speed limit when approaching any authorized emergency vehicle or wrecker displaying rotating or flashing lights stopped on the side of a roadway.
Overall also troopers issued more than 69,000 traffic citation and made DUI 620 arrest, during the same period. They cited nearly 24,000 drivers for speeding.
