Florida Democrats Warn Trump Election Will Have ‘Devastating Consequences’ for Immigrants

In response to what they called former President Donald Trump’s renewed focus on “expanding his inhumane immigration agenda,” the Florida Democratic Party has issued the following statement as a warning to voters:

“Donald Trump’s presidency had devastating consequences for immigrants — we should never forget the images of children separated from their parents and forced into cages,” said FDP Chair Nikki Fried. “It was one of the darkest moments in modern American history, and Trump has been very clear about how he plans to go even farther if given another chance.

“He’s promised to run the largest deportation operation in American history. He’ll do his best to gut birthright citizenship. He’ll reinstitute and expand his unconstitutional Muslim ban. He’s already echoing Hitler and Mussolini by calling his political opponents vermin and saying immigrants are ‘poisoning the blood of our country.’

“The contrast between Donald Trump and President Biden is clear — another Trump presidency is a major threat to immigrants in this country, while President Biden is rebuilding a safe, orderly, and humane immigration system that puts people first…The Biden-Harris administration expanded reunification programs for families from Ecuador in the U.S. over the next year, Florida Democrats will take every opportunity to remind Floridians which candidates actually fight for immigrants and their communities: President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.”

Meanwhile, Republican President Donald J. Trump is proud of his immigration policy and is clearly ready to run on the issue. As President, Trump said he secured America’s southern border and that he will wage war on the deadly cartels once he returns to the Oval Office. He criticized President Biden for handing over complete control of the U.S. southern border to the dangerous cartels and putting American communities on the frontline.

President Trump also said he is “prepared to take every action, including exposing every bribe, payoff, and corruption that is allowing the cartels to continue their brutal reign.” President Trump wants to work with Congress to pass legislation that ensures drug smugglers and human traffickers receive the death penalty.

Democrats and Republicans will be fighting over the immigration issue for votes ahead of Election Day 2024.
