Florida Democrats Vow to ‘Fight Like Hell’ to Win Special Elections

Governor Ron DeSantis signed executive orders setting special elections for Central Florida House District 35 and Miami House District 118. Florida Democrats are responding with a political attack against the Governor and a rallying call to start a blue wave.

Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried is rallying Democrats by saying the party will “fight like hell” to win these special elections and send a message to the Republican Governor and legislature.

“After dragging his feet for a month, the races for House Districts 35 and 118 are finally on,” said Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried. “While he has delayed the inevitable and abdicated his responsibilities as governor, Florida Democrats have been planning, preparing, and organizing to take back these seats.”

Three Republicans and three Democrats are already announced candidates for Florida House District 35. The Democrats currently include Rishi Bagga, Tom Keen, and Marucci Guzman. Multiple Republicans had already filed paperwork to run in Florida House District 118.

“These are competitive races that we’re going to fight like hell to win — and we’re going to bring that same energy to down-ballot elections all across the state next year, because Floridians deserve representatives in the legislature who give a damn about the issues that matter,” FDP Chair Nikki Fried added.
