Flag Football moves on to District Championship; Water Polo goes for State bid

Hannah Schaible ran for two touchdowns and passed for a third to lead top-ranked Flag Football to a 20-0 victory over Freedom in the District Semifinal at Oak Ridge. DP (13-0) has now won 22 straight games dating back to last season and will face host Oak Ridge tomorrow night at 7:00 for the District Championship.

Men’s Volleyball gave a strong effort but fell short against top-ranked Bishop Moore, 20-25, 23-25, 20-25. Logan Maladecki finished with eight kills and a pair of blocks, Andrew Johnson recorded six blocks and Hunter Heide closed out with five digs. DP (18-6) plays visiting Apopka Thursday night in the regular season finale. A victory over the visiting Blue Darters would secure DP’s third consecutive Metro West Conference title. District Tournament action opens up May 1st with the top-seeded Panthers facing fourth-seeded Olympia.

Tonight at the YMCA Aquatic Center both Men’s and Women’s Water Polo will host Lake Nona in the State Play-in games beginning at 7:15. With a victory, the Panthers will advance to the State Tournament in Miami which gets underway Friday at Ransom Everglades HS. Women’s Water Polo (16-7) is gunning for their first-ever trip to the FHSAA State Tournament and looks to tie their school record for wins in a season. Men’s Water Polo (19-4) is seeking a return trip to the State Tournament after advancing to the Final Four a year ago. Tickets are $7.00 at the door; only State Series passes are valid for admission.

Women’s Lacrosse, fresh off their third District Championship in four years, will host Tampa Catholic tonight at 7:00 pm at the stadium in the first round of the state playoffs. DP (14-2) has won 11 straight games and with a victory, would advance to round two Friday at either Winter Park or Timber Creek. Tickets for tonight’s game are $7.00 at the gate; only State Series passes are valid for admission.

Tomorrow afternoon at John Barbati Field, Baseball looks to continue their season with a victory over Cypress Creek in the District Tournament. DP, seeded third, will take on the second-seeded Bears at 4:00 pm. The winner advances to the District Championship game and automatically qualifies for the Regional Tournament next week.
