One of the most under-served segments of Orlando’s homeless population, homeless men, moved closer today toward having a new facility.
The Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida turned the sod on a new multi-million dollar Men’s Service Center at 636 west Central Boulevard, downtown Orlando.
Funded by the City of Orlando and Orange County, the nearly $7 million, two story, residential facility is expected to be completed and operational in 2013. The new facility will replace the current Men’s Pavilion, a nightly drop-in shelter.
Through the new Men’s Service Center, the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida, is expected to offer much-needed case management and support services for up to 250 men and to raise the level of assistance with the view toward self-sufficiency.
