Fifth Third helps financially empower military families

fifth-third-bankAccording to new research, veterans are more likely to end up homeless not just because of military stressors, but also because of poor financial skills. It’s estimated that nearly one in three, or 30.2 percent, have trouble with money management. Fifth Third Bank (Central and North Florida) is trying to reverse this by offering financial empowerment sessions for service members and their families.

From making a budget and improving credit to home ownership and loans, Fifth Third is taking the lead to ensure military families are better prepared when it comes to finances. The seminar will be held Thursday, Nov. 21 from 5 – 6 p.m. at Fifth Third Bank, 4104 Conroy Road, Orlando, Fla. 32839.

“These brave men and women put their lives on the line to protect our freedom. Fifth Third Bank is honored to support them when they come home,” said Reagan Rick, president and CEO of Fifth Third Bank (Central and North Florida). “We owe much to our heroes and we’re committed to assisting them by adding to their financial stability when they return to civilian life.”

In addition to addressing financial issues, Fifth Third Bank is partnering with veterans nonprofit Camaraderie Foundation to heal the invisible wounds of war. The local nonprofit provides free private counseling to service members and their families to assist with the transition to civilian life.

Through November 29, Fifth Third Bank will match donations to the Camaraderie Foundation made in any Central Florida branch, up to $10,000 cumulatively. To find a branch, use the locator at 53.com.
