Fifth Third Bank Supports Central Florida Veterans with Matching Donations

FifthThirdAccording to the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, nearly 200,000 veterans live in the Central Florida area. To support those troops and their families, Fifth Third Bank (North Florida) has partnered with the Camaraderie Foundation to help heal the invisible wounds of war.

From Oct. 15 to Nov. 15, all Central Florida area Fifth Third financial centers will collect and match donations for the Camaraderie Foundation, up to $10,000 cumulatively.

“Brave men and women put their lives on the line to protect our freedom,” said Chip Smallwood, Central Florida market president for Fifth Third Bank. “We are honored to support them when they come home.”

Currently, one in four active duty service members experience symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder, depression and other mental health problems. To help combat these statistics, the Camaraderie Foundation provides scholarships for private counseling, community support networks and mentor leadership programs for local military veterans and their families.

“Through generous donations from supporters like Fifth Third Bank, we are able to serve veterans who need our help,” said Marnie Waldrop, co-founder of the Camaraderie Foundation. “Every dollar given will allow us to continue making a more significant impact in our community.”

To donate, stop into any Central Florida Fifth Third banking center. Visit www.53.com to find a location nearest you.
